Carasa Lab

Emiliano created CarasaLab in Spain (Errenteria), doing so with the aim of being able to turn his innovative ideas into hair products that would revolutionize the hairdressing sector.

1930

First hairdressing products

CarasaLab began its journey with the manufacture of basic products for hairdressing salons such as shampoos, certain conditioners, liquids for perms, etc. They also sold some hairdressing equipment like scissors, cutting stations, rollers, wash stations, etc.

1940

A pioneer in hair dye

Launch of the “Komol” hair dye, one of the first dyes manufactured in Spain and one which began its expansion to the entire Iberian Peninsula immediately. The slogan said, “its application will make you look 20 years younger in 15 minutes.” It was the “miracle product” that covered gray hair.

1942

Manzanilla Oro Color lifting lotion

This product was formulated and sold with the aim of lightening hair in a more natural way. Unlike hair dye, Manzanilla Oro lotion represented a change in the quest for golden hair color transformation by progressively achieving shades of blond.

1943

Launch of face/body product lines

Launch of personal hygiene products that had a great impact on society and were popular with consumers for years. Items like Albura Creams (day and night creams), Lacto Lema (make-up removing milk), Kida Cream (especially for babies), Floriol Oil (for massages), as well as other types of products like astringent lotions, cleansers, etc.

National expansion

1953

KSD at-home dye

Launch of the KSD hair dye for domestic use, accompanied by an advertising and promotion campaign. This product was sold in most of the drugstores, perfumeries, small shops, etc. of the time – in fact, there were few stores where KSD hair dye was not sold.

1955

Pierre Carasa

Emiliano passed away and the second generation, Pierre Carasa, took charge of the company, continuing with the journey the company had embarked upon at the moment of its creation.

1965

Biscay and andalusia expansion

National expansion in the provinces of Biscay and Andalusia of the company’s professional product lines. New offices were opened in two capital cities: Bilbao and Seville.

1980

Third Carasa generation

The third generation took over the company, with two milestones that marked an important change in the direction of CarasaLab: the restructuring of the business due to the crisis of 1973 and the adoption of a new business line (private label manufacturing).

1987

New facilities at Oiartzun

A move to new offices in Oiartzun, where the company currently has its production plant comprised of more than 5,000 m2.

1990

Opening to the foreign market

Opening of a production plant in Brazil

CarasaLab made the international leap by building a new production plant in Brazil for the manufacture of nail lacquers, hair dyes, and other cosmetic products (years later, the plant in Brazil was closed).

2010

Quality certificate

Securing and implementation of a certificate of compliance with UNE-EN ISO 9001:2008, regarding quality in management.

2016

Fourth Carasa generation

Sisters from the family line of Sylvia Carasa and Jose Antonio joined the business and took control of the company, aiming to redirect the company towards current market trends.

2018

Internal renovation

Renewal and renovation of machinery and facilities at the production plant to improve the company’s organization and profitability.

2019

R&D in natural cosmetics

The invention and development of new formulations for products using natural ingredients. CarasaLab began the transformation process to align with market trends, making a great difference in new product developments.

2020

Adaptation

Temporary adaptation of production to meet market demands, which were altered by the global COVID-19 pandemic. To face the situation, CarasaLab and its team turned to the production of hand sanitizer gel and, hence, they currently supply their product to pharmacies, small shops, drugstores, hospitality businesses, etc. They place absolute priority on the national market in this regard.
